These are the tools used for carpet-weaving, the most important of which are as follows :
Loom :
The carpet loom made of wood or metal. Based on manner of stationing on the ground and its physical specifications, it is categorized to the following types:
A)    Horizontal looms :
These are stationed parallel to the ground level and the weaver for weaving the carpet, should be in a sitting position. This type of loom, because of ease of transportation and reinstallation, is mostly employed in tribes and some of the rural regions.

B)     Vertical looms :
which are stationed vertically on the ground and are divided into three Tabrizi, rotary and stable (fixed) types.
1- Stable (fixed) Loom :
In this type of loom as carpet-weaving progresses, the weaver’s position from the ground level elevates. This type of loom is mostly used in Farsi-baf regions. Today, due to improvements provided in this type of loom, the weaver’s seat remains fixed, so we see two type of such looms : top loom movable and bottom loom movable so that by loosening top – or bottom loom, the woven section is either translocated to the back of the loom or by pushing down and sewing under the loom, without changing the weaver’s seat, continuation of weaving will be possible.

2- Rotary Loom :

In this type of loom, following weaving a predtermined section of carpet, wraps are loosened from above and the woven section is rolled around the bottom-loom. This type of loom is used in regions like Kerman, Mashahd etc.

3- Tabrizi Loom :

In this type of loom, the weaver’s seat is always fixed and does not change and by rolling and wrapping the carpet to the back of the loom, at any moment the carpet is visible and in this type of loom, wrap drawing is directly performed on the loom. Tabrizi loom is mainly used in Azerbaijan.

Weaving Knife :
a metallic scalped like tool used in Farsi-baf regions to cut excess thread after knotting.
Hook :

a scalped-like metallic tool at the end of which a grapnel is contrived which in Azari-baf regions is used for knotting and then cutting the excess thread.

Poke (sikh) : 
a strip – like metallic tool with a hooked pint used in Azari-baf regions to pass wefts through the wraps.
Weaver’s Comb (Daftin or Daffeh) :
a comb-like tool with metallic vanes used to seat (fix) wefts, and to hammer and level the woven rows. Daffeh is used in Azari-baf regions while the Daflin which is heavier is used in Farsi-baf regions. In regions like Birjand, Yazd, Kerman … an instrument referenced as “Barpaki” is employed that in addition to hammering the rows, it is used for pulling forward of the yarn.
Comb:
This is a tool with metallic ribs used to arrange the knots in their appropriate positions and also opening the pile tips in order to confer an even and smooth condition to the carpet and to provide it with a velvety appearance.
Shears:
it is used for preleminary polishing and cutting the pile ends and is seen in two rimmed and unrimmed types. The rimmed types are mostly employed in Farsi-baf regions while the unrimmed forms are mainly used in Azerbaijan.
